After the ribbing is threaded, leave the bottoms open. they will be closed later. Next you'll want to sew up the casing around the wing claw. You'll do this the same way you did the casing of the wing base, but this time you'll tuck the tips of the fabrics you just threaded into the casing as you sew. After that is done, you'll want to sew the wing skin to the wing base. Sew it all the way down to the edge of the round part that sits against your back.
Then cut the ribbing casing to the desirable length and sew them closed around the wire. Make sure to sew them tightly because wires tend to poke out and scratch people. After that cut your webbing into the desired arch along the bottom. Then you can bend the wires the way you wish to give you the curved look to your wings The finished product should appear roughly like this:
Now there are a Variety of ways to do this. Kythera, had a corset, CrzyDemona sewed her wings directly onto her Dress. I used a system of ribbons. No way is better. This mostly depends on the comfort of the wearer. Here is how I did mine.
I used three long ribbons. Make sure your ribbons are strong or your wings will fall off. We don't want a ball room of Shedding gargoyles now do we? Anyways Stitch one ribbon near the lower curve of the back piece. that ribbon will wrap around your waist directly under your bust. The other two ribbons will go on on the top of the curved backing. These ribbon will go over your shoulders like backpack straps.
And there you have it. Gargoyle wings! No keep in mind this isn't the ONLY way to make wings, let alone the best way. This is just a good basic starting point.
